Allegheny Reproductive Health Center is seeking a Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM). If you are seeking employment with flexible effort between 1.0 FTE to 0.7 FTE, then this is the place for you. A position with us would include full spectrum obstetrics and gynecology, including out-of hospital birth.

Allegheny Reproductive Health Center has provided excellent abortion care since 1975 and now provides full spectrum reproductive healthcare that is comprehensive and patient centered. We have an opening for a Certified Nurse Midwife who shares our commitment to reproductive healthcare and abortion services, and practices midwifery and delivery services. This person will also work collaboratively with physicians and nurse practitioners and provide LGBTQIA+ care.

Position Summary:

  • Performs patient assessment and assigns diagnosis based on recorded assessment data and current scientific research
  • Establishes a plan of care and implements interventions in accordance with protocols, standards of care, and current research
  • Provides early pregnancy loss evaluation and management
  • Performs post-abortion follow-up care
  • Provides full spectrum contraception including all LARC options
  • Provides prenatal, delivery, and postpartum care
  • Provides gynecology services, including in-office and in-hospital surgical procedures, and LGBTQIA+ care.
  • First assist for surgery cases including cesarean delivery and clinical training with Medical Director if desired.
  • Participates in OB call coverage
  • Contributes to the educational development of staff, patients, and self
  • Demonstrates progressive leadership and effective management
  • Advances own professional development through self-directed learning, continuing education and participation in peer review

Job Title: Bookkeeper

General Summary:
The Bookkeeper position handles the fundamental aspects of Allegheny Reproductive Health Center’s (ARHC) financial record keeping. This position is in charge of updating all financial records of the company. This position is responsible for both accounts payable and receivable along with all payroll
and bank account management and reconciliation tasks. The successful candidate should have previous experience as a bookkeeper and be proficient in QuickBooks or an equivalent accounting software. Experience in a business or medical office environment is preferred.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Review payable invoices, verify payments, and file accordingly. Process accounts payable and receivable
  • Communicate and coordinate effectively with the Owner, Accountant, Medical Biller, vendors and company staff in all company financial matters
  • Determine monthly payment amounts for physicians (for procedures and ACA calls), CRNAs, consultants and the Allegheny Reproductive Health Contribution Fund.
  • Process checks
  • Understand ledgers
  • Prepares staff payroll using ARHC’s designated accounting software ADP
  • Record day to day financial transactions and complete the posting process
  • Reconcile bank accounts at the end of each month
  • Maintain credit card and petty cash accounts and record of expenditures
  • Process financial transactions and reports
  • Prepares and submits tax related reports to the required authorities in a timely manner
  • Supports company operations by maintaining office systems, lay-outs, equipment and supply procurement
  • Organizes/coordinates staff training for use of office systems and equipment, as needed.
  • Maintains office services by organizing office operations and procedures, controlling correspondence, designing filing systems, reviewing and approving supply requisitions, and assigning and monitoring clerical functions
  • Works closely with IT to troubleshoot computer system issues and coordinate staff IT support
  • Assists in defining procedures for retention, protection, retrieval, transfer, and disposal of corporate records
  • Designs and implements office policies by establishing standards and procedures, measuring results and making necessary adjustments
  • Keeps management informed by reviewing and analyzing special reports, summarizing information and identifying trends
  • Assists with financial objectives by preparing an annual budget, reviewing expenditures, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective actions

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Associate Degree or higher in accounting or business, preferred, or High School diploma or equivalent with supplemental courses or certifications in accounting, computer software (i.e. Excel, Word), office management
  • At least two – three years bookkeeping/office management experience within a business or office environment
  • Proficient with bookkeeping and generally accepted principles of accounting
  • Proficient in the use of computer systems and software
  • Knowledge of QuickBooks, ADP payroll system and EHR software
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Attention to detail and accuracy of work
  • Able to prepare, review and understand a financial statement
  • Able to work independently and within a team setting
  • Ability to take instructions and guidance from others

Position: Observation Assistant
Position Type: Full Time
Location: Pittsburgh, PA

General Summary:
The Observation Assistant is responsible for the well-being of patients following the abortion procedure. Creates a relaxed environment providing physical and emotional support. Acts as the liaison between the Observation Room and all other areas of the clinic. Monitors each patient’s medical condition and communicates with the provider to determine any necessary post-procedure interventions, medications, precautions or follow up. Ability to complete all documentation in the observation room. Complies with ARHC protocols. Maintains CPR certification and keeps current on clinic changes and updates.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Attends each patient upon admission to the recovery room: takes blood pressure, pulse, and records in chart per the observation protocol.
2. Reviews discharge instructions with patients and addresses questions.
3. Monitors post-procedure bleeding.
4. Stresses importance of post procedure care with patients.
5. Responsible for communication with other areas of the clinic.
6. Prepares printed materials for patients to take at time of discharge including postoperative instructions and follow up information sheet.
7. Monitors patients including but not limited to vital signs, pain and bleeding throughout the recovery period.
8. Administers post-operative medications as allowed by PA state law and licenses (if applicable) in conjunction with RN and as prescribed by the provider. Explains purpose of medications and directions.
9. Explains all special instructions or precautions to high-risk patients. E.g. Possible ectopic or molar pregnancy, etc.
10. Follows current protocols for recovery room.
11. Conducts weekly inventory of supplies and medications for recovery room.
12. Keeps current on medical protocols.
13. Maintains adequate nutritional supplies for patients.
14. Cleaning of all observation room supplies (disinfects chairs, washes laundry, etc.).
15. Demonstrates adherence to “patient -centered care” principles, values and policies

Any other duties as assigned by the supervisor

Skills/Qualifications:
1. Current CPR certification.
2. Ability to prioritize and attend to all needs of multiple patients.
3. Strong assessment skills
4. Ability to recognize post-procedure complications and to intervene quickly and according to medical protocols.
5. Must maintain calm, soothing interactive personality while being professional. Must be courteous, non-judgmental, but directive and firm toward patients as needed.
6. Ability to maintain calm, commanding demeanor in times of medical emergency or other difficult situations.
7. Knowledge of current ARHC medical and emergency protocols.
8. Ability to work with and interact with individuals from all socio-economic, ethnic, sexually oriented, and religious backgrounds.
9. Ability to be self-motivated, as well as take instruction and guidance from others.
10. Ability to work under conditions of stress with minimal supervision and direction.
11. Ability to work flexible hours and shifts.
