Preventative Health

We recommend seeing a gynecologist every one to two years for routine screening that includes an exam, screening for medical conditions, sexual health screening including pap smears, routine exams and mammogram screening if indicated.

We provide a wide range of birth control options including pills, patch, vaginal rings, injection, implants and intrauterine devices (IUDs).

If you need testing for STIs, we offer urine or swab testing in our office. We also can give you prescriptions for blood work at your local lab for testing such as HIV, syphilis, and Hepatitis. We can test you and your partner(s) regardless of their sex.

Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) is a virus that can cause condylomas (warts) and various forms of cancer including cervical, anal, and throat cancers. The FDA has approved the HPV (Gardasil) vaccination series up to age 45 years. If you want this vaccine, we can provide this vaccination for you at ARHC.

We understand that gynecologic exams can be difficult for many people. At ARHC, we offer a variety of options for screening for cervical cancer and sexually transmitted infections. You can self swab for many of your tests or the provider can do swabs without a speculum. We can also offer sedation services for these exams if needed. Please contact us to schedule

Gynecologic Issues

The average age for menopause is around 51 years of age. Menopause is defined as not having your menses for over one year. Symptoms of menopause can include irregular menses, hot flashes, mood swings, and vaginal dryness. At ARHC, we can help you to navigate the process of menopause with lifestyle changes and medication options

If your menses are heavy or you have irregular cycles, that is defined as Abnormal Uterine Bleeding (AUB). We can assist you in determining the cause of AUB and discuss treatment options

Many people have leiomyomas, also known as fibroids. These are generally benign uterine masses that can lead to pelvic pain, pressure, painful sex, heavy or irregular menses. At ARHC, we can help you to navigate diagnosing and treating fibroids with many options.

Polyps in your cervix or uterus are common. They can cause irregular bleeding or bleeding after sex. At ARHC, we can help you navigate diagnosing and treating these polyps with many options.

For most people, we start offering screening for cervical cancer at age 21 years. Pap smears are recommended every 3 to 5 years if they are normal. If you have an abnormal pap smear, we can provide you with testing for your abnormal pap smears and treatment.

At ARHC, we offer several types of contraception methods including the implant and the intrauterine device (IUD). We offer hormonal and non-hormonal IUDs. For most people, getting an IUD or implant is very simple, as well as removal. If you have an IUD that is difficult for your  provider to remove or to place, we are able to assist you with difficult placement and difficult removals with a variety of techniques including ultrasound guidance or hysteroscopy.

Many people experience pelvic pain. There are many things that can lead to pelvic pain, such as endometriosis or vaginismus (involuntary pelvic muscle spasm). At ARHC we can assist you to determine what may be causing your pain and then with treatment options.

Sex whichever way you do it should be pleasurable. If you have any issues with sex including painful sex, dryness, or decreased pleasure, our providers at ARHC can help you to navigate any issues you would like to address.

ARHC understands that accessing providers for fertility services is complex and often difficult. We can provide basic fertility services including preconception consultation, fertility testing, ovulation induction, insemination including intracervical and intrauterine semination, and referrals to fertility specialists.

We believe that decreasing barriers to fertility care is very important, whatever services you need. With our shared decision-making model of care, we offer you all the possible options and you determine what is best for you and fertility goals.
