Allegheny Reproductive Health Center has provided excellent abortion care since 1975 and now provides full spectrum reproductive healthcare that is comprehensive and patient centered. We have an opening for a Certified Nurse Midwife who shares our commitment to reproductive healthcare and abortion services, and practices midwifery and delivery services. This person will also work collaboratively with physicians and nurse practitioners and provide LGBTQIA+ care.

Position Summary:

  • Performs patient assessment and assigns diagnosis based on recorded assessment data and current scientific research
  • Establishes a plan of care and implements interventions in accordance with protocols, standards of care, and current research
  • Provides early pregnancy loss evaluation and management
  • Performs post-abortion follow-up care
  • Provides full spectrum contraception including all LARC options
  • Provides prenatal, delivery, and postpartum care
  • Provides gynecology services, including in-office and in-hospital surgical procedures, and LGBTQIA+ care.
  • First assist for surgery cases including cesarean delivery and clinical training with Medical Director if desired.
  • Participates in OB call coverage
  • Contributes to the educational development of staff, patients, and self

Allegheny Reproductive Health Center is seeking a Research and Evaluation Intern to support outcome reporting and evaluation of our Obstetric Health services, including the Doula Program and the Home and Hospital Birth Programs.

The Research and Evaluation Intern will report to the CEO and the Director of Development. The Research and Evaluation Intern will be responsible for data management and reporting which may include tasks such as the following:

• Collecting data from charts and/or from the electronic health records systems
• Collecting data through qualitative surveys
• Carrying out background research and literature reviews
• Designing new and improving existing data collection processes
• Running reports and managing large data sets
• Data cleaning and analysis
• Report writing and editing
• Navigating the IRB process


Required Skills and Qualifications:
• Minimum completed or in-progress graduate-level degree in Public Health, Health Administration, or other relevant field
• Alignment with ARHC‘s mission to provide patient-centered, judgement-free, full spectrum reproductive healthcare (including abortion) in a way that centers bodily autonomy and marginalized populations, and actively works to reduce and dismantle systems of disparity in health within a reproductive justice framework

General Summary:

Provides support to patients seeking medical care and serves as the patients’ first point of contact. Assists with general office, clinic and administrative duties, as assigned.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide quality, competent care that enhances the well-being of patients by demonstrating competence and application of the following skills: Answering the telephone, scheduling and confirming appointments, patient triage, handling questions from callers and giving them the information they need, retrieving messages from voicemail, following up on patient issues, cross training in various areas of the clinic to fill in for absent staff when needed, and any other office tasks as assigned.
  • Provide care in accordance with appropriate professional and company standards by: Maintaining a current CPR certificate, if required, following Allegheny Reproductive Health Center clinical guidelines for practice, and clearly documenting all care and education provided.
  • Provide a safe and therapeutic environment for consumers, visitors and staff by: safe disposal and cleaning and/or sterilizing of all equipment used in patient care before and after exams and surgery, using Standard Precautions, appropriate use and disposal of ‘sharps’, being aware of, and taking action if occupational hazards are identified, and following company policy to report events/incidents/errors.
  • Maximize personal development and to support the development of colleagues by completing all orientation requirements, participating in annual performance reviews, supporting colleagues in their learning and recognizing limits of knowledge or expertise and referring appropriately.

Working Conditions:

Job Title: Ultrasound Technician

General Summary:

Under supervision, the Ultrasound Technician performs ultrasounds for all patients coming into the clinic. Ultrasounds will be done to determine gestational ages, viability, and any other issues found at the time of the ultrasound. The Ultrasound Technician may also perform pregnancy tests, answer phones, take messages, and make follow-up calls. Ultrasound Technician will report any irregular findings to the Provider on staff and document all findings accordingly and follow all cleaning and safety protocols. Ultrasound tech will also report any gestational changes to the front desk to assess for payment changes or issues. Will also discuss negative pregnancy tests with patients and send them home according to protocol.

Complies with ARHC protocols. Maintains CPR certification and keeps current on clinic changes and updates.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Set up the ultrasound room and record temperature.
  2. Performs ultrasounds after positive pregnancy test has been reported from Lab Technician
  3. Follows ultrasound protocol for different gestational ages and documents all landmarks needed for ultrasounding (yolk sac, bilateral diameter, femur length, crown-rump length, and mean sac diameter).
  4. Uploads all pictures into the proper patient chart with name, chart number and date.
  5. Completes ultrasound documentation in patients Athena chart.
  6. Properly cleans and sanitizes exam bed, chair and ultrasound machines between patients.
  7. Reports any patient issues to Flow staff, nurses, provider, or clinic Director.
  8. Asses all patient allergies and asks all pre-ultrasound questions.
  9. Place the patients paper chart in the proper bin for the patient to continue the process for the day.
  10. Perform ultrasound guidance during procedures with gestations over 15weeks and 0 days when it is necessary.
  11. Offer emotional support to patients when necessary and explanations about ultrasounds or abortion processes.
  12. Clean and break down ultrasound properly at the end of the day and record room temperature.

Any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
